Vampire Politics
The politics of the eternal realm is similar to that of Medieval and Tudor England. It is dominated by powerful families. The more money, soldiers and influence your family has the more powerful they’ll be and thus have more say in the Council of 13.
The Council of 13 is an ancient collection of representatives from each family. When it was formed the elders from each of the powerful families met once a month in a neutral area of Norway to discuss the most important issues in the vampire realm and make discussions accordingly. This meant deciding on a course of action, pledging their soldiers or money to a certain goal.
Currently the Council of 13 is less balanced. Over the centuries this has been corrupted. Lady Pandora now has control over at least half of the representatives through marriages and deals. This of course has upset the other representatives who can no longer vote against her because they’ll never get a majority. Meaning uprisings and plots are more common in order to overthrow the far reaching and in depth power the Drake family has.
There is also an equivalent War Council which is led by Lady Senka. This Council decides on how to achieve military goals, usually ordered by the Council of 13, through strategy and logistics. As a member of the Drake family, Senka also has a tight control on this and almost always her way is the only way to proceed.
Will the Drake family keep their ironclad dominance or will the other families work together to bring a more democratic way to their lives?
